Have no fear!
Vegetarians can do the Alo Diet just fine. Avoid all animal products, which virtually eliminates saturated fat, and eat only natural plant products.
The only issue will be being able to get all of the essential amino acids (proteins) from an all plant diet. Most vegans and vegetarians know how to do this if they have committed to this lifestyle.
This is a grain type of product from South America that contains more protein than per pound than any beans, vegetables, or other plant food sources. It is about 22% protein by weight, and contains all of the essential amino acids. This grain can have a bitter taste, hence I always recommend Red Mill's Organic Quinoa. They wash it well and take the bitter particles off of it.
You can use this in many different ways. It can be cooked as a rice, cous cous, oatmeal, cereal, pasta, and multiple other uses. You will enjoy this little treat. See our recipe section for details.
