One of my patients tried to argue with me that "poor people can't lose weight". Her argument was that healthy food costs too much and that most people can't afford healthy food.
The Alo Diet still works. If you can't eat healthy food, just eat less of the unhealthy stuff. Instead of going to a fast food joint and buying yourself a cheeseburger and fries and a soft drink, get salad and water instead. If you don't like salad, get the cheeseburger and fries, and cut it into thirds and give the other two thirds to two other people (and save even more money by feeding the entire family). Wait about 20 minutes, and you will feel just as full as if you ate the whole thing. In fact, if you ate the whole meal, you will likely feel bloated afterwards.
You may think that healthy food costs more, but in reality you will find yourself saving money. You will be eating much less food and you will be eating much cheaper foods.
Of course, if you are used to going to McDonald's and buying food off their dollar menu, you may be paying a little more than you expect. If you go out to fancy restaurants every night, you will find yourself saving money. But either way, healthy food is cheaper!
A bag of apples or a bunch of bananas or grapes only costs a few bucks and should last quiet some time. You can also shop at those wholesale clubs, like Costco, where you can save even more money when you buy in bulk.
Be creative, you will save money in the long run. Don't use this as a built in excuse to not lose weight.
